Crowns and Bridges

Phung Tran Dental Group provides a range of affordable dental procedures including general dentistry, general cosmetic dentistry, and advanced dental care.

Are you suffering from a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth? Dental crowns and bridges are your solution to missing or damaged teeth. Crowns are usually used when the tooth structure is damaged or fractured to cover the damaged tooth. Phung Tran Dental Clinic offers a range of orthodontic solutions including crowns and bridges to help restore your fractured tooth strength and its appearance.

What are Crowns and Bridges?

Crowns and bridges are forms of dental prosthesis used to help people with damaged or missing teeth. A crown is essentially a covering for a damaged or discoloured tooth. Crowns can be made of several different materials including ceramic, porcelain, metal, or gold, and can be fitted for both cosmetic and structural reasons. Crowns are also used to anchor bridges which are commonly used to replace gaps between teeth. A bridge is typically a fusion of porcelain and metal which replaces missing teeth, restoring proper mouth function. Why would you need Crowns or Bridges?

There are a number of situations which may lead your dentist to suggest the use of crowns or bridges. In some cases, ceramic or porcelain crowns may be used to hide unrepairable tooth discolouration. As having crowns fitted can be a costly exercise, the use of crowns for purely cosmetic purposes is not something that we recommend to all patients. If you have a tooth or teeth which have had numerous fillings then your dentist may recommend the use of crowns. Used in this way, a crown provides improved, long-term support for the affected tooth. Finally, bridges are commonly used to replace gaps between teeth. Regardless of the reason why you’ve lost a tooth (or teeth), a bridge can be fitted to restore proper function, enabling you to continue eating the food which you love! If you think you may need crowns or bridges, book a consultation at Phung Tran Dental Clinic today and we’ll discuss your options with you.

What happens during my procedure?

Your crown and bridges will be fitted over a series of appointments at Phung Tran Dental Clinic. First, your dentist will perform an assessment and determine the most appropriate course of action. If crowns are needed, a mould of the affected area will be taken and used to create the crown or bridgework. If necessary, a temporary crown can be fitted during the same appointment. Once your personalised crown or bridgework has been created, you’ll come in for a secondary appointment to have the prosthesis fitted. Your dentist will also discuss your anaesthetic options at the time of your initial appointment.

What happens after my procedure?

At Phung Tran Dental Clinic, our service and care does not end when you leave our clinic. Especially after major dental procedures like crowns and bridges, we like to make sure that you’re comfortable, healthy and happy with the work that we’ve done. During your follow-up appointment, your dentist will closely examine the crowns or bridge and ensure that they are working effectively and without pain. Should you need further help, you can rest assured that Phung Tran Dental Clinic will always be there when you need us!
